Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager is an optional component intended to simplify the daily management and administration of your Veeam backup servers via a single web-based UI.

This component is typically deployed when you have multiple Veeam backup consoles/sites to manage.

For example, an organization may have two Veeam backup servers: one in production environment, used for backup jobs, and another at the DR site, for the replication jobs. For such scenario it is worth installing Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager to have visibility across two backup servers.

Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager federates Veeam backup servers and offers a consolidated view of these servers through a web browser interface, so that you can centrally control and manage all jobs through a single pane of glass, edit and clone jobs, monitor job state and get reporting data across all backup servers.

Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager enables you to search for indexed VMs and Windows guest OS files in the current and archived backups across your backup infrastructure, and restore these VMs or guest files in one click.

noteNote

Using Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager to perform file search is recommended for virtual infrastructures with a number of indexed VMs under 100; alternatively, you can use Veeam Backup Search.

Also, note that if your deployment does not include Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager, then you can turn off VM guest indexing (to avoid excessive performance load and save storage space).

With Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager you can use flexible delegation options, allowing for the restore of specific files or VMs to be performed by authorized persons only.

Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager also allows IT administrators who supervise restore operations to approve or discard restore requests created by U-AIR users.

You can install Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager on either physical or virtual machine, co-install it with Veeam Backup & Replication, or install it separately on the machine meeting appropriate system requirements. For detailed information on installing and configuring Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager, please refer to the Enterprise Manager User Guide.
