With earlier Veeam Backup & Replication versions, users had to utilize third-party tools or scripts in order to archive Veeam backup files to tape. Now this capability is integrated into the product, including tape cataloging and management operations that can be performed directly from Veeam backup console. This section described prerequisites and supported configurations of tape devices, described how integration works, and provides some recommendations on planning your tape archiving and restore.

Consider that Veeam Backup & Replication Standard edition supports Windows files archiving only; backup archiving and Linux files archiving to tape is supported by Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions.

This feature offers very convenient archiving of backup files, and allows you to easily restore repositories or individual VMs from tape.
