Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server is a tool that extends the functionality of Veeam Backup & Replication, allowing you to view and recover databases from within Microsoft SQL Server VM backup. For that, you do not need to fully restore and start the virtual machine hosting the SQL Server. Instead, you can use Veeam Backup & Replication data recovery options to mount the selected restore point (image-level backup or replica) of Microsoft SQL Server VM to Veeam backup server and then specify how you want your database to be restored. Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server offers the following capabilities:
- Browsing Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases
- Exporting databases, schema objects and data to a local folder or network drive, including quick and easy 1-Click Export
- Restoring databases, schema and data to the original server or different server
Veeam supports database and schema restore to the current state (that is, to the moment when currently selected Microsoft SQL Server backup was created), restore to the selected point in time (here transaction log replay will bring the database to the desired point), and restore to the state before selected transaction.
