Specify Backup Location Settings > Specifying Veeam Backup Server Settings" dateModified: "2026-11-03" --- # Specifying Veeam Backup Server Settings The **Specify Backup Server parameters** step of the wizard is available if you have selected to restore data from a backup repository managed by a Veeam backup server. ::: important Permissions on the backup repository managed by Veeam backup server must be granted beforehand. To learn more, see [Setting Up User Permissions on Backup Repositories](integrate_permissions.md). ::: Specify settings for the Veeam backup server that manages the backup repository where the backup file resides: 1. In the **Address** field, specify a DNS name or IP address of the Veeam backup server. 2. In the **Port** field, specify a number of the port over which Veeam Agent must communicate with the backup repository. By default, Veeam Agent uses port 10006. 3. You can select between login with user credentials or recovery token. Select the type of **Authentication** to access the Veeam backup server: - **Login and password**. With this option selected, specify the following settings: 1. In the **Login** field, type a name of the account that has access to the Veeam backup repository. 2. In the **Domain** field, type a name of the domain in which the account that has access to the Veeam backup repository is registered, for example: *DOMAIN*. ::: important To authenticate against a Linux-based Veeam backup server, you cannot use domain accounts. We recommend using a local user account with the *Service Account* role. To learn more about available local user roles, see the [Configuring Users](https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/hmc_configure_users.html?ver=13) section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. ::: 3. In the **Password** field, type a password of the account that has access to the Veeam backup repository. ::: note If you want to perform restore from a backup created by Veeam Agent operating in the managed mode, you must use an account that has the Veeam Backup Administrator or Veeam Restore Operator role on the Veeam backup server. For more information about user roles, see the [Users and Roles](https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/users_roles.html?ver=120) section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. ::: ![](images/baremetal_file_restore_vbr_creds.png) - **Recovery token**: With this option selected, in the **Token** field, enter the value of the recovery token generated in the Veeam Backup & Replication console. For more information on generating recovery tokens, see [Creating Recovery Token](https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/agents/agent_backup_recovery_token.html?ver=120) in the Veeam Agent Management guide. ![](images/baremetal_file_restore_vbr_connect_sol.png) 4.
