# System Requirements {#sysreqs}



A machine that you plan to protect with Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris must meet requirements listed in the table below.

      <p><span class="T_Controls">Note:</span> Only GA versions and updates of the Oracle Solaris OS that have been released before version 13.1 of Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris are supported.</p>

      <p>All file systems supported by the supported operating systems.</p>
      <p><span class="T_Controls">Note: </span></p>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List">Total size of all file systems included in a file-level backup must not exceed 218 TB.
</li>
      </ul>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List">Size of a file in a backup must not exceed 16 TiB.</li>
        <li class="Table_List">Name of a file in a backup must not be larger than 254 bytes.</li>
      </ul>
      <p class="Table_List_Paragraph">Keep in mind that characters that you can use in the file name may be encoded in 2 bytes or more.</p>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List">Sparse files are not supported. Veeam Agent backs up and restores sparse files as regular files.</li>
      </ul>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List">Backup of clustered systems is not supported.</li>
      </ul>

      <p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Software</span></p>

      <p>The system must have the following utilities installed:</p>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List"><span class="T_Filenames">mlocate</span> (version 0.26-1 or later) – required for file system indexing. If your system does not have the <span class="T_Filenames">mlocate</span> utility, you can install it from the product installation media.</li>
      </ul>
      <ul>
        <li class="Table_List"><span class="T_Filenames">tar</span> - required for file system indexing, exporting and rotating logs. It is installed with the product. </li>
        <li class="Table_List"><span class="T_Filenames">gzip</span> – required for file system indexing, exporting and rotating logs. It must be installed separately.</li>
        <li class="Table_List"><span class="T_Filenames">xorriso</span> – required for creating Veeam Recovery Media.</li>
      </ul>
      <p>Oracle Solaris minimal install (Core System Support Software Group) requires adding the following packages: <span class="T_Filenames">SUNWtoo</span>, <span class="T_Filenames">SUNWzoneu</span> and <span class="T_Filenames">SUNWzoner</span>.</p>

## Backup Target

Backup can be performed to the following types of storage:

- On-premises or cloud-based object storage.
- Local (internal) storage of the protected machine (not recommended).
- Direct attached storage (DAS), such as USB, eSATA or Firewire external drives.
- Network Attached Storage (NAS) able to represent itself as NFS or SMB (CIFS) share.
- Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 backup repository.

Consider the following about backup repositories:

- [For local storage] A backup repository should be created on a separate volume from a volume that contains data you plan to back up.
- [For Veeam backup repositories] Veeam Cloud Connect repositories and repositories with KMS encryption enabled are not supported.

## Network

Consider the following:

- Veeam Agent does not support Kerberos authentication.
- If you back up to a repository managed by a Veeam backup server, Veeam Agent must be able to establish a direct IP connection to the Veeam Backup & Replication server. Veeam Agent cannot work with Veeam Backup & Replication that is located behind a NAT gateway.
- Domain names of the Veeam Agent machine, Veeam Backup & Replication server and other servers in the Veeam backup infrastructure must be resolvable into IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.
