RAM Requirements for Large Numbers of Files

Amount of RAM used by Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris to process backed-up files depends on the number of files included in the backup. For large environments with great number of backed-up files, use the following RAM sizing recommendations.

Note

If you plan to back up millions of files, consider reducing the maximum size of the ZFS Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC) to provide Veeam Agent with the required amount of RAM. Depending on the version of the OS on the machine, Oracle Solaris provides different tunable parameters that allow you to cap the ZFS ARC cache:

If you do not set the limit on the ZFS ARC cache, ZFS may fail to allocate the amount of RAM required by Veeam Agent for backup of large number of files.
