Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 [Archived]
Enterprise Manager User Guide

Considerations and Limitations

  1. In some cases, local antivirus or antimalware software may interfere with the installation process, preventing Enterprise Manager from being installed or upgraded smoothly. If so, the setup fails, and you receive a message saying "Failed to create website 0x80070020". It is recommended that you disable local antivirus or antimalware software and run the installation again, then re-enable that software. See also the Veeam KB article: https://www.veeam.com/kb1992.
  2. The presence of .NET 3.5.1 WCF HTTP Activation Windows component may prevent Enterprise Manager from functioning. To work around the issue, uninstall this component.
  3. If you want to deploy the Enterprise Manager database in the AlwaysOn Availability Group, then follow the recommendations provided in the Veeam KB article: https://www.veeam.com/kb2301. Also, the AlwaysOn Availability Groups failover may cause jobs failure.
  4. 1-Click restore, 1-Click guest OS file restore and application item-level restore (for Microsoft Exchange mailbox items and Microsoft SQL Server databases) will not be supported by Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager if performed from any storage snapshot.
  5. 1-Click restore and 1-Click file-level restore are available only in the Enterprise or Enterprise Plus edition of Veeam Backup & Replication. 1-Click file-level restore for physical servers is supported only for the Server edition of Veeam Agents.
  6. Delegated restore via Self-Service File Restore web portal is available only in the Enterprise Plus edition.
  7. Currently, Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager supports 1-Click restore to its original location only. If the machine exists in the production environment, consider that it will be shut down and deleted, and machine from backup will be restored to that original location.
  8. Restore of an SQL Server database that belongs to an AlwaysOn Availability Group works as follows: if restored to the original location, this database will be restored and added to the corresponding Availability Group. If restored to another location (to another server from the Availability Group), database will be restored but will not be added to any Availability Group.
  9. Backup job settings can be edited via Enterprise Manager if you have Enterprise or Enterprise Plus license installed; remember that you can change only a subset of the job configuration settings via web UI, as described in this document. Also, remember that If you have Veeam backup servers of earlier versions added to Enterprise Manager, note that their jobs cannot be modified or deleted using Enterprise Manager.
  10. It is recommended to have the same product version on the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager server and Veeam backup servers. If you use different versions of Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager and Veeam Backup & Replication, you may not be able to leverage all features in Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager.
  11. Backup servers that have identical objects in Veeam Backup & Replication configuration databases must not be added to the same Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager. Data collection will fail when Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager attempts to insert duplicate records about identical objects to its configuration database. Identical objects can appear in Veeam Backup & Replication configuration databases in the following cases:
  • Jobs on several backup servers process the same machines.
  • The same backups are imported to the Veeam Backup & Replication console on several backup servers (for example, the same backup repository is shared between several backup servers, backups are copied between different machines and these machines are added to the Veeam Backup & Replication console on different backup servers and so on).
