Before you start browsing the database content using Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange, you need to obtain database files located inside the backup of the VM. To know how to obtain database files, see the following section:
- Using Backup or Replica File. See this section to know how to obtain database files using Guest OS Restore wizard and then browse the content of the VM using in-built Veeam Backup Browser.
- Using Microsoft Exchange Item Level Restore Wizard. See this section to know how to obtain database files using Microsoft Exchange Item Level Restore Wizard.
When you use Veeam Backup & Replication data recovery features, the file system of the VM is mounted using the local mount server and can be added to the application scope either automatically or manually.
Make sure that you have configured the path to the Extensible Storage Engine location. See the Required Backup Job Settings section.
