Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5
Veeam Backup Explorers User Guide

Using 1-Click Restore

With 1-Click Restore, Veeam Explorer for Oracle allows you to quickly restore your database to the original location using either the current state of a database, or that of a certain point in time. Make sure the Oracle backup job was set up properly (see Required Oracle Server Backup Job Settings) and completed successfully.

To launch 1-Click Restore to the original server, in the navigation tree select database you need, then from the shortcut menu select Restore state of <date_time> or latest state to <server>. You can also use the similar command from the ribbon menu.

Using 1-Click Restore Important!

1-Click restore to the original Oracle server from the storage snapshots is not supported as the original server may not be detected properly in that case, so this command will not be available for such database backup. As a workaround, you can use the Restore to another server command to start the Restore Wizard and specify the necessary target directly at the Step 3. Specify Target Server.

Restore process will be performed according to the following:

  • Database will be recovered back to the original VM (files will be copied to the original location and then mounted to the original Oracle home) considering selected database state. Database from backed up ASM group will be restored to the original ASM group. If a database with the same name already exists on a target, it will be deleted and replaced by the database from the backup.
  • For Windows-based VMs user credentials for carrying out the restore procedure will be chosen as follows:
  • Firstly, Veeam Explorer for Oracle will try to use your current account.
  • If this account does not have sufficient rights to perform the restore procedure (for example, in case of imported backup), then it will use the account configured for guest access in the corresponding backup job.
  • If this does not work either, user will be prompted to supply the necessary credentials.
  • For Linux-based VMs user credentials will be chosen as follows:
  • If this account does not have sufficient rights to perform the restore procedure (for example, in case of imported backup), then it will use the account configured for guest access in the corresponding backup job.
  • If this does not work, user will be prompted to supply the necessary credentials.

The account you use to access the target server should have administrative rights on that server. See the Required Permissions section.
