You use Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server to explore, export or recover your data from the backups created with Veeam Backup & Replication back to the production environment.
The following steps briefly describe the overall process when recovering Microsoft SQL Server database using Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server.
- An IT administrator explores the backup file using Veeam Backup & Replication restore capabilities to retrieve Microsoft SQL server database files. See Obtaining Database File from VM Backup.
- The backup data is then mounted on a target or on the staging SQL server. See Understanding Mounting.
- Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server obtains SQL server hierarchy information and displays this information to the user.
- Users utilize Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server capabilities to recover or export the data from the backup file.
