Step 4. Specify Storage Bucket
At the Bucket step of the wizard, specify a GCP bucket where you want to store image-level backups of your VM instances. If you have not created the bucket beforehand, you can to create a new bucket:
- To specify an existing bucket, in the Bucket menu enter a name of a storage bucket where VM backups will reside.
To select a bucket that is available in your GCP Region, click Browse and select the necessary bucket in the Select Bucket window. The Buckets drop-down list contains only those storage buckets that are added to the selected project.
- To create a new bucket, click Browse. In the Select Bucket window, click New Bucket and enter a name for the bucket.
You can create a bucket only in the same project where Veeam Backup for GCP has been deployed.
If you want to encrypt data stored in the standard backup repository, select the Enable backup file encryption check box. From the drop-down list, select a password that you want to use to encrypt data. With this option selected, Veeam Backup for GCP automatically encrypts backup files stored in this repository.
If you have not added the password beforehand, click the Manage passwords link or the Add button to add a password. For more information on adding passwords, see the Creating Passwords section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
For more information on how to set up data encryption, see the Enabling Data Encryption section in the Veeam Backup for GCP User Guide.
