Step 5. Specify GCP Network Resources

In this article

At the Networking step of the wizard, specify the GCP network resource settings:

    1. From the VPC drop-down list, select a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network to which the Veeam Backup for GCP appliance will be connected. To create a new VPC, select (create new).

For a VPC network to be displayed in the drop-down list, it must be created in advance as described in the Using VPC networks section in the Google Cloud documentation.

    1. From the Subnet drop-down list, select a subnet to which the Veeam Backup for GCP appliance will be connected. To create a new subnet, select (create new).

For a subnet to be displayed in the drop-down list, it must be created in advance as described in the Using VPC networks section in the Google Cloud documentation.

    1. From the Network tag drop-down list, select a network tag that will be assigned to the Veeam Backup for GCP appliance. To create a new network tag, select (create new).

For a network tag to be displayed in the drop-down list, it must be created in advance as described in the Configuring network tags section in the Google Cloud documentation.

    1. In the Backup server public IP address field, specify an IP address of the or a scope of IP addresses in CIDR notation that will be allowed to access the Veeam Backup for GCP appliance.

Veeam Backup for GCP will create a security rule for the specified IP addresses. Note that the Veeam Backup & Replication server IP address must fall into the specified IP addresses.

    Important

    Mind the following:

    • The specified VPC network and subnet must have the outbound internet access to GCP APIs listed in the System Requirements section in the Veeam Backup for GCP Guide. Otherwise, Veeam Backup for GCP may not work efficiently and may cause unexpected errors.
    • The specified VPC network and subnet must allow the inbound internet access from a local machine that you plan to use to work with Veeam Backup for GCP.
    • If you are going to connect a Veeam Backup for GCP appliance to the VPC network with already configured firewall rules, these firewall rules must allow inbound internet access from a Veeam Backup & Replication server.
    • If you connect a Veeam Backup for GCP appliance to the shared VPC network, all firewall rules associated with this VPC must be configured beforehand. Otherwise, Veeam Backup & Replication will not be able to create firewall rules automatically while deploying the appliance. For more information on shared VPC, see the Shared VPC overview section in the Google Cloud documentation. To learn how to create firewall rules, see Creating firewall rules section in the Google Cloud documentation.

To learn how to enable internet access for VPC networks and subnets, see the Using VPC networks section in the Google Cloud documentation.
