Viewing Snapshots and Backups

In this article

Available backups and snapshots are displayed under the following subnodes of the Backups node in the Home view:

    • The Snapshots subnode shows cloud-native snapshots of persistent disks attached to the processed VM instance.

In the working area, there is an <Appliance name> node. This node displays both snapshots created manually and snapshots imported automatically while adding regions to backup policies.

For more information on how Veeam Backup for GCP creates cloud-native snapshots, see the Snapshot Chain section in the Veeam Backup for GCP User Guide.

    • The External Repository subnode shows image-level backups that are located in the standard backup repository. For more information on how Veeam Backup for GCP creates image-level backups, see the Backup Chain section in the Veeam Backup for GCP User Guide.

Under this subnode, Veeam Backup & Replication marks decrypted backups with a special icon (Viewing Snapshots and Backups). For more information on how to decrypt backups, see Decrypting Image-Level Backups.

    • The External Repository (Archive) subnode shows backups located in the archive repository. For more information on how Veeam Backup for GCP creates archive backups, see the Archive Backup Chain section in the Veeam Backup for GCP User Guide.
    • The External Repository (Encrypted) subnode shows encrypted backups (backups stored in encrypted repositories) for which you did not specify the decryption password or specified a wrong password when adding a Veeam Backup for GCP appliance. Note that this subnode does not display encrypted backups stored in archive repository.
