Adding Objects to Back Up

    Before you start data protection operations, you must add objects that you want to back up to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure. You can add the following objects to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure:

    • vCenter Servers and ESXi hosts. For instructions on how to add servers and hosts, see the Adding VMware vSphere Servers section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide for VMware vSphere.
    • Hyper-V servers. For instructions on how to add servers, see the Adding Microsoft Hyper-V Servers section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide for Microsoft Hyper-V.
    • Nutanix AHV clusters. For instructions on how to add Nutanix AHV clusters, see the Adding Nutanix AHV Cluster section in the Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV User Guide.

    Note

    In Nutanix Mine version 3.0 and later, the Nutanix AHV Plug-in is installed on the Veeam Backup & Replication server by default.

    • Microsoft Windows servers. For instructions on how to add Windows servers, see the Adding Microsoft Windows Servers section the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
    • Linux servers. For instructions on how to add Linux servers, see the Adding Linux Servers section the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
    • NAS file shares. For instructions on how to add NAS file shares, see the Adding File Share section the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
    • Azure VMs, Amazon EC2 and RDS instances. To back up cloud objects, you must deploy additional plug-ins. For details, see the following guides:
