Install VE Service and Web UI" dateModified: "2026-10-27" --- # Step 4. Install VE Service and Web UI At this step, the following Veeam MP for Hyper-V components will be installed: - Veeam Virtualization Extensions Service (VE Service) — is used for license distribution to monitored Hyper-V hosts. - Veeam Virtualization Extensions UI (web UI) — is a web-based (IIS) UI used to view discovered Hyper-V hosts, include and exclude hosts from monitoring and update the Veeam MP for Hyper-V license. You can install the VE Service and web UI on an OpsMgr Management or Gateway Server. To do that: 1. Log in to the machine where you want to install Veeam MP for Hyper-V using an account with local Administrator rights. 2. Mount the installation image. 3. On the splash screen, click **Install**. 4. Complete the **Veeam Management Pack Setup** wizard: 1. At the **License Agreement** step, read and accept the Veeam license agreement, the licensing policy, the 3rd party components license agreement and the license agreement of the required software. If you reject the agreements, you will not be able to continue installation. 2. At the **Program Features** step, make sure that the **Veeam Virtualization Extensions Service and web UI** check box is selected. If the setup wizard detects Veeam Backup & Replication running on your machine, it will offer to install a Veeam Data Collector for Veeam Backup & Replication on this machine. However, you can clear the check box since this feature is optional. For more information on the managements packs, see the [Veeam MP for Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide](https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/mp/backup_guide/installing_mp_for_veeam_backup.html?ver=13). 3. At the **License** step, browse to a local folder on your workstation to locate the license file provided to you by Veeam. To do that, click **Browse to local license file**. Note that you will not be able to continue installation without providing a license. 4. At the **Service Account** step, enter credentials of an account under which the Veeam Virtualization Extensions Service will run. The account must be a member of the local **Administrators** group. The user name must be specified in the *DOMAIN\USERNAME* format. For more information on accounts and privileges, see [Required Permissions](https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/mp/vmware_guide/accounts_and_privileges.html?ver=13). ::: note After you click **Next**, the setup wizard will run the system configuration check and will automatically install the missing ASP.NET Core Runtime and .NET runtime components (if any). ::: 5. At the **Port Configuration** step, specify the TCP port that will be used by the VE Service (by default, **8084**), the port required to connect to the web UI (by default, **4430**) and the port required to connect to OpsMgr and to collect data on the Hyper-V infrastructure (by default, **50052**). For the full description of ports used by Veeam MP for VMware and their default values, see [Network Protocols and Ports](ports.md). 6. At the **Ready to Install** step, review the installation configuration. Click **Install** to begin installation. Wait for the installation process to complete and click **Finish** to exit the setup wizard. When installing the VE Service and web UI on a Gateway Server, you must also establish a connection to the OpsMgr SDK after the installation process completes. For more information, see [Establishing Connection to Remote OpsMgr SDK](establishing_connection_to_remote_opsmgr_sdk.md). ::: note Keep in mind that Veeam MP for Hyper-V deployment process continues even after all management packs are imported.
Depending on the OpsMgr infrastructure performance, it may take several hours for reports and SQL Server stored procedures to be deployed to the OpsMgr reporting server. This is why some widgets may not function and reports may not be visible in the OpsMgr console during this period. ::: ## Establishing Connection to Remote OpsMgr SDK To establish a connection to the remote Operations Manager SDK, do the following: 1. Log in to the web UI using an account that is a member of the *Veeam Virtualization Extensions Users* local group. 2. Switch to the **Hyper-V Monitoring** tab. 3. Click **Ops Mgr Connection** > **Connect**. 4. Complete the **Connect OpsMgr Server** wizard: 1. At the **Server** step, enter the FQDN of the machine where OpsMgr is installed and specify credentials of an account with the *Operations Manager Administrator* permissions. ::: tip If you want to use a group Managed Service Account (gMSA), select the **Use gMSA** check box and specify the account name. For more information on managing gMSA accounts, see [Microsoft Docs](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/manage/group-managed-service-accounts/group-managed-service-accounts/group-managed-service-accounts-overview). ::: 2. At the **Summary** step, review the connection settings and click **Finish**.
