# Connecting to VMware Systems

This section briefly describes connections between Collector servers and VMware servers. For more information, see [Security Considerations](security_considerations.md).

## Connection to vCenter Server

It is recommended that you implement a connection for each vCenter Server Appliance, vCenter Server on Windows and standalone vSphere host in the web UI.

## Direct Connection to vSphere Host

Direct connections to standalone vSphere hosts are also supported.
