# Each vs. Every

Both **Each** and **Every** refer to a plural number of items, but there is a slight difference between these determiners:

- **Each** considers each item as an individual unit. If there are only 2 items in a group, you can use **Each** as a synonym for **Both**.
- **Every** considers all these items as part of a group. Never use **Every** as a synonym for **Both**.

- If you can add an adverb of degree (*almost*, *practically*, *nearly* and so on) before a determiner, use **Every**.
- If you are talking about events repeated regularly, use **Every**.

### Examples

1. You can granularly configure rules for [each media set]{.mdhl-correct}.
2. You can view properties of [each tape]{.mdhl-correct} registered in the database. 
3. In the GFS media pool, a separate media set is created for [each backup cycle]{.mdhl-correct}.
4. A temporary snapshot of the VM is taken and then removed during [every]{.mdhl-correct} backup or replication [job session]{.mdhl-correct}.
5. [Every time]{.mdhl-correct} you launch the Veeam Backup & Replication console, Veeam Backup & Replication automatically checks if Veeam Backup & Replication components installed on managed servers are up to date.
6. Veeam Backup & Replication automatically rescans tape servers [every 3 minutes]{.mdhl-correct}.
