Managing Portal Administrators

You can assign the role of a Portal Administrator to users and user groups, enable and disable Portal Administrators.

Assigning Portal Administrator Role

To grant Portal Administrator privileges to a user or group:

  1. Log in to Veeam Availability Console as a Portal Administrator.

For details, see Accessing Veeam Availability Console.

  1. At the top right corner of the Veeam Availability Console window, click Configuration.
  2. In the configuration menu on the left, click Roles and Users.
  3. At the top of the page click New.
  4. In the Set Access Role window, click the Not chosen link to select a user or group.
  5. In the Search Users window, configure search parameters:
  1. From the Account type drop-down list, select the account type: User or Group.
  2. In the Domain field, type the name of the domain, in which you want to find users or groups.

Click Advanced to specify credentials to connect to the domain.

By default, Veeam Availability Console searches users and groups on the machine hosting Veeam Availability Console. If you installed Veeam Availability Console using the distributed deployment scenario, this will be a machine on which the Veeam Availability Console Server component runs.

  1. In the Name field, type the name of a user or a group.
  1. Click Find.

Search Users

  1. From the search results, select the necessary user or group and click Select.
  2. From the Role drop-down list, select Administrator.

Add Portal Administrator

  1. Click Save.

Managing Portal Administrators Note:

You can also use the following ways to assign the role of a Portal Administrator to a user:

  • Add a user to the local Administrators group on the machine hosting Veeam Availability Console. If you installed Veeam Availability Console using the distributed deployment scenario, this must be a machine on which the Veeam Availability Console Server component runs.   • Assign to the user the role of a Veeam Backup Administrator on the Veeam Cloud Connect server connected to Veeam Availability Console. For details, see Roles and Users.

Disabling Portal Administrators

To control access to Veeam Availability Console for Portal Administrators, you can enable and disable users or groups of users with Portal Administrator privileges.

To disable a user or a user group with Portal Administrator privileges:

  1. Log in to Veeam Availability Console as a Portal Administrator.

  1. At the top right corner of the Veeam Availability Console window, click Configuration.
  2. In the configuration menu on the left, click Roles and Users.
  3. At the top of the page, select the Administrator role.
  4. Select the necessary user or user group in the list.

To narrow down the list of users, you can apply the following filters:

  • Username — limit the list of users by name.
  • User Type — limit the list of users by type (User, Group).
  1. Click Disable.

Managing Portal Administrators Note:

You cannot disable all both the Administrators and Veeam Backup Administrators user groups at the same time: at least one user group must have access to the portal.

Enabling Portal Administrators

To enable a user group with Portal Administrator privileges:

  1. Log in to Veeam Availability Console as a Portal Administrator.

  1. At the top right corner of the Veeam Availability Console window, click Configuration.
  2. In the configuration menu on the left, click Roles and Users.
  3. At the top of the page, select the Administrator role.
  4. Select the necessary user or user group in the list.

  • User Type — limit the list of users by type (User, Group).
