Step 5. Initialize Data Migration

Initialize migration of data from Veeam Managed Backup Portal to Veeam Availability Console:

  1. On the machine that runs Veeam Managed Backup Portal, launch Veeam Availability Console Migration Tool.
  2. At the Migration Scenario step, select Migrate data to the new Veeam Cloud Connect server.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Source Server step, specify credentials for an account with Local Administrator privileges on the Veeam Managed Backup Portal server and Veeam Backup Administrator role in the source Veeam Cloud Connect. Use the DOMAIN\USER format for domain accounts or the HOST\USER format for local accounts.

The account must have the necessary rights. For details on account rights, see Accounts.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Source SQL Server step, provide details to connect to the Veeam Managed Backup Portal database:
  1. In the SQL Server field, enter the name of the SQL server where Veeam Managed Backup Portal database resides.

You can type the name of the server or click Browse to select it from the list of available servers.

  1. In the Database name field, enter the name of the Veeam Managed Backup Portal database.

You can type the name of the database or click Browse to select it from the list of available databases.

  1. Provide credentials of an account that will be used by Veeam Availability Console Migration Tool to access the Veeam Managed Backup Portal database.

You can specify Windows authentication credentials or use SQL Server authentication credentials.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Target Server step, specify details for the new Veeam Availability Console server you deployed at Step 3:
  1. Enter the IP-address or DNS name of the server and management port that the Veeam Availability Console WebUI component uses to communicate with the Server component.

The default port number is 1989.

  1. Specify credentials for an account with Local Administrator privileges on the Veeam Availability Console server. Use the DOMAIN\USER format for domain accounts or the HOST\USER format for local accounts.

The account must have the necessary rights. For details on account rights, see Accounts.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

If the Local Administrator has no necessary permissions on the target Veeam Availability Console database, you will see the Connection Account window. In this window, provide credentials for an account that will be used by Veeam Availability Console Migration Tool to access the Veeam Availability Console database. You can specify Windows authentication credentials or use SQL Server authentication credentials. For details on permissions required for the account, see Permissions.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Cloud Connect Server step, specify details for the Veeam Cloud Connect server data migration:
  1. Enter the DNS name or IP address of the new Veeam Cloud Connect server you deployed at Step 2.
  2. Enter credentials for an account with Local Administrator privileges on the new Veeam Cloud Connect server.

The account must have the necessary rights. For details on account rights, see Accounts.

These credentials will be used to import an SSL certificate and install the Veeam Availability Console management agent to the new Veeam Cloud Connect server.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Service Account step, specify credentials for an account with Local Administrator privileges and Veeam Backup Administrator role on the Veeam Cloud Connect server. Use the DOMAIN\USER format for domain accounts or the HOST\USER format for local accounts.

The account must have the necessary rights. For details on account rights, see Accounts.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration Note:

The Local Administrator account must be a built-in Administrator on the machine where Veeam Cloud Connect is deployed. Otherwise, you must disable Microsoft Windows UAC remote restrictions. For more information, see https://www.veeam.com/kb2352.

These credentials will be used to run the management agent service on the Veeam Cloud Connect server.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. At the Configuration Check step, review configuration check steps and click Prepare.

  1. When configuration check completes successfully, you will see a message informing that you must migrate Veeam Backup & Replication configuration database. Click OK.

Step 5. Initialize Data Migration 

  1. Leave the wizard open and proceed to steps 6-8.
