Getting Started

To start working with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, complete the following steps:

  1. Install and access Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure from a web browser.

For more information, see Installing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and Accessing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure.

  1. Add Microsoft Azure accounts.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure accesses Microsoft Azure resources that are required to perform data protection and disaster recovery operations through Microsoft Azure service accounts. For more information, see Accounts.

  1. Configure backup infrastructure.
  1. Configure a backup repository.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure uses Azure containers as a target location for Microsoft Azure VM backups. To add an Microsoft Azure container to Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, configure a backup repository. For more information, see Backup Repositories.

This step is not required if you plan to protect Microsoft Azure VMs only with cloud-native snapshots.

  1. Configure workers.

To perform backup and restore of Microsoft Azure VMs to/from backup repositories, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure uses workers. For more information, see Workers.

  1. Configure a backup policy to create image-level backups and/or cloud-native snapshots of Microsoft Azure VMs.

For more information, see Data Backup.

  1. Perform recovery operations with backed-up data in case of a disaster.

For more information, see Data Restore.
