Adding a Service Provider in Veeam Backup & Replication

The procedure for adding service providers is performed by the tenant on the tenant’s Veeam backup server. To use Veeam Cloud Connect resources for data protection and disaster recovery tasks, you must add a service provider to Veeam Backup & Replication.

The service provider must not add itself as a service provider in the Veeam Backup & Replication console deployed on the service provider’s backup server. If the service provider performs this operation using the credentials of a tenant account, Veeam Backup & Replication jobs configured by this tenant will fail until the service provider removes itself from the list of service providers.

See the Connecting to Service Providers section of the Veeam Cloud Connect User Guide to know how to add a new Service Provider to your environment.

Adding a Service Provider Without a License

Veeam Backup & Replication does not require tenants to purchase any license in order to communicate with a service provider. Even with no license installed, tenants are still able to add a service provider to their backup infrastructure to get the full range of available services. However, such tenants are required to activate the Fully Functional (advanced) mode to be able to add a service provider to their working environment in Veeam Backup & Replication.

To switch to the Fully Functional (advanced) mode, do the following:

  1. Open Veeam Backup & Replication console.
  2. Go to Main menu > View.
  3. Select Fully Functional (advanced).

If you do not activate the Fully Functional (advanced) mode, the service provider section in the navigation pane will be unavailable.
