This cmdlet publishes a backed-up Oracle database.

The cmdlet returns the [`VEORPublishedDatabase`](veorpublisheddatabase.md) object that contains settings of the published Oracle database.

### Example 1. Publishing Oracle Database to Windows Machine

This example shows how to publish a backed-up Oracle database to a Windows machine with Oracle.

$session = Get-VEORRestoreSession
$database = Get-VEORDatabase -Session $session[0] -Name "orcl"
$creds = Get-Credential
Publish-VEORDatabase -Database $database -Server "OracleSrv2049" -WindowsCredentials $creds
```

Perform the following steps:

1. Run the [`Get-VEORRestoreSession`](get-veorrestoresession.md) cmdlet. Save the result to the `$session` variable.

   The cmdlet will return an array of active restore sessions. Note the ordinal number of the necessary restore session (in this example, it is the first restore session in the array).

2. Run the [`Get-VEORDatabase`](get-veordatabase.md) cmdlet. Set the `$session` variable as the `Session` parameter value. Specify the `Name` parameter value. Save the result to the `$database` variable.
3. Run the [`Get-Credential`](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.security/get-credential?view=powershell-7.6) cmdlet. Save the result to the `$creds` variable.
4. Run the `Publish-VEORDatabase` cmdlet. Set the `$database` variable as the `Database` parameter value. Specify the `Server` parameter value. Set the `$creds` variable as the `WindowsCredentials` parameter value.

### Example 2. Publishing Oracle Database to Linux Machine

This example shows how to publish backed-up Oracle databases to the original Linux machine with Oracle.

$session = Get-VEORRestoreSession
$database = Get-VEORDatabase -Session $session[0] -Name "orcl"
$securepassword = Read-Host -Prompt "Enter password" -AsSecureString
$linuxcreds = New-VEORLinuxCredential -Account "root" -Password $securepassword
Publish-VEORDatabase -Database $database -LinuxCredentials $linuxcreds

Perform the following steps:

1. Get the restore session:

   1. Run the [`Get-VEORRestoreSession`](get-veorrestoresession.md) cmdlet. Save the result to the `$session` variable.

      The cmdlet will return an array of active restore sessions. Note the ordinal number of the necessary restore session (in this example, it is the first restore session in the array).

   2. Run the [`Get-VEORDatabase`](get-veordatabase.md) cmdlet. Set the `$session` variable as the `Session` parameter value and specify the necessary restore session. Specify the `Name` parameter value. Save the result to the `$database` variable.

2. Get Linux credentials:

   1. Run the [`Read-Host`](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.utility/read-host?view=powershell-7.6) cmdlet. Specify the `Prompt` parameter value. Provide the `AsSecureString` parameter. Save the result to the `$securepassword` variable.
   2. Run the [`New-VEORLinuxCredential`](new-veorlinuxcredential.md) cmdlet. Specify the `Account` parameter value. Set the `$securepassword` variable as the `Password` parameter value.

3. Run the `Publish-VEORDatabase` cmdlet. Specify the following settings:

   - Set the `$database` variable as the `Database` parameter value.
   - Set the `$linuxcreds` variable as the `LinuxCredentials` parameter value.
