System Requirements

The machine where Veeam Backup for Salesforce will be deployed, the machines running PostgreSQL servers used to host databases, and the file shares used to store backed-up data must meet the necessary hardware and software requirements.

Management Server

Specification

Requirement

Hardware

CPU: 4 cores (minimum) and additional 1 CPU core for per protected Salesforce organization

Memory: 6 GB RAM (minimum) and additional 2GB RAM per each protected Salesforce organization

Free space: 10 GB (minimum), excluding file storage space. For file storage space requirements, see File Storage.

Note: To improve performance of the management server, it is recommended that you use SSDs for databases and file storage.

OS

  • CentOS 7 (centos-release-7-9.2009.1.el7.centos.x86_64 and later)
  • RedHat Linux 7, 8
  • Oracle Linux 7, 8

PostgreSQL Servers

Specification

Requirement

Hardware

CPU: 4 cores (minimum)

Memory: 8 GB RAM (minimum)

Free space: Use your Salesforce Data Space value as a starting point to consider the amount of space required to store the backed-up Salesforce data in a database. The backed-up data will take at least x1.6 more disk space in PostgreSQL. When calculating the required disk space, take into account your desired data set, daily change rate, and the retention policy settings.

To learn how to monitor your data storage and used file space in Salesforce, see Salesforce Documentation.

Note: To improve performance of PostgreSQL servers, it is recommended that you use SSDs on the machines running the servers.

File Storage

Specification

Requirement

Hardware

Veeam Backup for Salesforce stores file data and metadata in the /opt/vbsf/vbsf-backup/data folder on the management server. Make sure you have enough space to store this data. Available disk space must take into account the total volume of your used file space in Salesforce and your daily change rate. It is recommended to have +25% of the free space on your file storage over the used file space amount. You can see the volume of your data storage and file used space in Salesforce. To do that, open the Salesforce UI and navigate to Setup > Company information.

Network file shares are not supported.

Note: To improve performance of the management server, it is recommended that you use SSDs for the file storage.
