Getting Started
To migrate backup data from a self-managed Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 installation to Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365, complete the following steps:
- Complete the onboarding process in Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365. For details, see the Self-Service Onboarding section in the Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 User Guide.
During this process, select the Migrate from existing Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 option to specify that you want to migrate your backup data.
If the backup data you want to migrate resides in an encrypted backup repository, in the Encryption password field, specify the encryption password.

You can specify one encryption password only. If the backup data you want to migrate resides in multiple encrypted backup repositories, these backup repositories must use the same encryption password. |
- In Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365, generate the Migration API key. For details, see Obtaining Migration API Key.
- Install the Veeam Migration for Microsoft 365 tool on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server. For details, see Installing Veeam Migration for Microsoft 365 Tool.
- Run the Veeam Migration for Microsoft 365 tool and complete the steps of the migration wizard. For details, see Migrating Backup Data.
