To follow ‘3-2-1’ backup approach (3 copies, 2 types of media, 1 off-site location) considered as best practice for data protection and disaster recovery, an organization needs to ensure that its VMs meet the requirement of a minimal number of backup copies to be available at any time.

With Example 1 you will learn how to identify VMs which are not compliant to this recommendation, and how to bring them into line.

Offsite storage of backups is an important component of each modern data protection strategy, and Veeam makes offsite storage easy with built-in WAN acceleration. Caching, variable block length data fingerprinting and TCP/IP protocol optimizations result in up to 50 times faster transfers of Veeam backups across the WAN while eliminating the need for additional backup jobs, copy scripts and capabilities like storage-based replication. Best of all, there are no VM- or host-based agents to install and no special network setup required.

With Example 2 you will learn how you can use WAN acceleration to increase data transfer efficiency when copying your backups to DR location.

note

NOTE:

WAN accelerator is available in the Enterprise Plus edition of Veeam Backup & Replication.

Backup verification process is one of the most crucial parts of data management and protection. SureBackup is a patented Veeam technology that lets users to automatically validate backups of their VMs without impacting the production infrastructure. You can automatically verify every created restore point of every VM and ensure that they will function as expected in case a disaster strikes.

With Example 3 you will learn how to verify recoverability of the backed up VMs and to discover which VMs fall out of the process.

note

NOTE:

SureBackup, or automatic recovery verification, is available in Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions of Veeam Backup & Replication.
