Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure and Veeam.FastSCP.Copy settings are specified in configuration files. There are two configuration files that hold the following settings:

Connection settings

Advanced settings

Connection Settings Configuration

This configuration file is located in the directory %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Veeam\FastSCP for Azure\Config.xml. The file stores connections settings specified for Azure VMs in Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure. In most cases, you will not need this file — all connection settings can be specified in the Add Machine window in Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure.

However, you may need this file if you want to move Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure to another machine and keep the configuration of connection settings. If you move this file to a new Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure installation, you will not need to configure connections to Azure VMs anew.

NOTE:

The configuration file does not store passwords for Azure VMs. Passwords are stored in the Windows Credentials Manager, as Generic Credentials. To move stored credentials, you need to back them up on the old installation of Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure and restore them on the new installation.

Advanced Settings Configuration

This configuration file is located in the directory %ProgramData%\Veeam\FastSCP for Azure\Config.xml. The file stores advanced settings for Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure and Veeam.FastSCP.Copy.

The configuration file structure is illustrated below.

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<Veeam>

 <FastSCP>

   <Server SkipCompletedFilesOnRestart="True" BlockSize="1024" InitialConnections="4" BlocksPerStream="15"/>

   <Constraints MaxFileTransferSizeGB="1331"/>

 </FastSCP>

 <Core>

   <Log Level="Extended"/>

 </Core>

</Veeam>

By default, some tags and parameters are not included in the file. However, you can extend the default list of tags and parameters to optimize data transfer between on-premises and Microsoft Azure cloud.

You can modify the following parameter values.

Parameter

Value

Description

MaxFileTransferSizeGB

Integer

Specifies the maximum size of files that can be copied. By default, the maximum file size is 1331 GB.

To increase the file size limit, you must change the BlocksPerStream and MaxFileTransferSizeGB parameters. For details, see Increasing File Size Limit.

BlocksPerStream

Integer

Number of data blocks that Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure or Veeam.FastSCP.Copy copies in one stream.

By default, 15 blocks are copied.

SkipCompletedFilesOnRestart

True | False

Specifies whether source files or folders must overwrite target files or folders if the last modification time of target and source items is the same. The parameter controls the behavior of upload and download jobs in case connection to target is lost during the job session, before all items have been copied to target. Depending on the parameter value, at the next run the job can either resume copying the remaining items to target or copy all files from source to target anew.

The following values are supported:

True (default) — do not overwrite the existing items on target if the last modification time of target files or folders is the same.

False — always overwrite the existing items on target even if the last modification time of target files or folders is the same.

Level

Default | Extended

Logging level for Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure or Veeam.FastSCP.Copy. The following values are supported:

Default (default) — default logging level.

Extended — extended logging level with additional details.

IMPORTANT!

Do not change the default BlockSize and InitialConnections values unless you are instructed to do so by Veeam Support. Changing these values on your own may result in instable operation of Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure and Veeam.FastSCP.Copy.

Increasing File Size Limit

By default, Veeam FastSCP for Microsoft Azure and Veeam.FastSCP.Copy can transfer files up to 1.3 TB. To increase this limit, you must change advanced configuration settings:

1.Open for edit the configuration file %ProgramData%\Veeam\FastSCP for Azure\Config.xml.

2.Add the MaxFileTransferSizeGB parameter to the file and specify a new file size limit as the parameter value (in GB).

For the structure of the configuration file, see Advanced Settings Configuration.

3.Increase the BlocksPerStream parameter value.

When changing the parameter values, stick to the following rule: for each additional 100 GB in the MaxFileTransferSizeGB value, add 3 to the BlocksPerStream value.

For example:

To increase the file size limit to 1.4 TB, set the MaxFileTransferSizeGB value to 1440, and the BlocksPerStream value to 18.

To increase the file size limit to 2 TB, set the MaxFileTransferSizeGB value to 2048, and the BlocksPerStream value to 36.
