Veeam Endpoint Backup can operate in two modes: activated and free.

Activated — in this mode, Veeam Endpoint Backup can be managed in the LabTech Control Center. A backup administrator can configure the backup job, start and stop backup, change global settings, update and uninstall Veeam Endpoint Backup, and collect Veeam Endpoint Backup data for monitoring and reporting.

End users working with Veeam Endpoint Backup directly can perform most operations, with the following exceptions:

-Users cannot submit a support case to Veeam Software in the Veeam Endpoint Backup Control Panel. To obtain support, users must contact their backup administrator.

-Users cannot update Veeam Endpoint Backup in the Control Panel; automatic updates are also disabled. To update Veeam Endpoint Backup, users must contact their backup administrator.

Free — in this mode, Veeam Endpoint Backup cannot be managed from the LabTech Control Center. End users working with Veeam Endpoint Backup directly can access all available functions, update the product and submit support cases to Veeam Software in the Control Panel.

To manage Veeam Endpoint Backup in the LabTech Control Center, monitor the state of endpoint data protection and run Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech reports, you must activate Veeam Endpoint Backup. Note that every endpoint running in the activated mode requires a Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech license — either desktop or server, depending on the OS type. For details, see Licensing.

NOTE:

When you install Veeam Endpoint Backup from the LabTech Control Center, Veeam Endpoint Backup is activated automatically. You must activate Veeam Endpoint Backup manually only for computers where Veeam Endpoint Backup was installed in a regular way, outside the LabTech Control Center.
