Enabling Read-Only Access Mode

To prevent end users from changing Veeam Endpoint Backup settings, and performing restore, you can enable read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup.

In the read-only access mode, Veeam Endpoint Backup can be managed only in the LabTech Control Center. The Veeam Endpoint Backup Control Panel displays a notification saying that product settings are managed by the system administrator.

Read-Only Mode

End users working with Veeam Endpoint Backup directly can perform a limited number of operations, including:

Running the backup job manually

Viewing backup session statistics

Creating Veeam Recovery Media

Restoring individual files

You can enable the read-only access mode for one endpoint, or for a group of endpoints at a time.

Enabling Read-Only Access Mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup

Before you enable the read-only access mode, make sure that Veeam Endpoint Backup has been activated. For details, see Activating Veeam Endpoint Backup.

To enable read-only access for Veeam Endpoint Backup on one or more remote endpoints:

1.In the LabTech Control Center, right-click a client, location, group or computer.

2.Choose the script that will enable read-only access for Veeam Endpoint Backup:

[For LabTech 11]  From the shortcut menu, select Scripts > Veeam Endpoint Backup > Enable read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup.

[For LabTech 10.5] From the shortcut menu, select Scripts > Backup and Recovery > Veeam Endpoint Backup > Enable read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup.

3.In the Schedule section of the Run Script window, select Once and specify date and time when the read-only access mode must be enabled.

4.Click OK.

NOTE:

When you enable the read-only access mode, Veeam Endpoint Backup global settings are restored to default: the Disable scheduled backups option is cleared, the Disable notifications option is cleared, the Disable backup over metered connection option is selected, and the Throttle backup activity when system is busy option is selected.

Disabling Read-Only Access Mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup

To disable the read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup on one or more remote endpoints:

1.In the LabTech Control Center, right-click a client, location, group or computer.

2.Choose the script that will disable read-only access for Veeam Endpoint Backup:

[For LabTech 11]  From the shortcut menu, select Scripts > Veeam Endpoint Backup > Disable read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup.

[For LabTech 10.5] From the shortcut menu, select Scripts > Backup and Recovery > Veeam Endpoint Backup > Disable read-only access mode for Veeam Endpoint Backup.

3.In the Schedule section of the Run Script window, select Once and specify date and time when the read-only access mode must be disabled.

4.Click OK.
