Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech relies on the native LabTech architecture.

Remote endpoints are managed and monitored with the help of LabTech agents. The agents running on desktops and laptops enable backup, recovery and management tasks, as well as collect data from the hosting machines and communicate them to the LabTech server.

Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech installed on the LabTech server provides centralized management for Veeam Endpoint Backup on remote computers, tracks license usage, obtains backup data from agents and translates it into the dashboards, dataviews, reports, alerts and tickets.

Veeam Endpoint Backup Plug-in for LabTech

Discovery

Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech automatically discovers agent-enabled computers running Veeam Endpoint Backup software. Discovered computers are distributed between two groups:

Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE group includes computers with Veeam Endpoint Backup running in the free mode. This group serves as a container for endpoints that you can activate later on.

Veeam Endpoint Backup group includes computers with Veeam Endpoint Backup that has been activated. For computers in this group, you can perform various Veeam Endpoint Backup management tasks, collect backup data, monitor the results and efficiency of backup jobs and create reports.

The Veeam Endpoint Backup group has a number of Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech objects assigned to it by default, including scheduled scripts for collecting Veeam Endpoint Backup data and checking the software version, and a set of Veeam monitors.

Data Collection

To collect Veeam Endpoint Backup data from remote endpoints, Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech uses the Collect Veeam Endpoint Backup data script. By default, this script is assigned to the Veeam Endpoint Backup computer group and scheduled to run twice a day.

Data retrieved from remote endpoints is archived and sent to the LabTech server. On the LabTech server, data is unpacked and stored on the LabTech database. Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech uses the collected data for dashboards, dataviews and reports.

For details on collecting Veeam Endpoint Backup data and customizing the script schedule, see Collecting Veeam Endpoint Backup Data.

Veeam Endpoint Backup Management Tasks

Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech enables a set of management tasks on Veeam Endpoint Backup. These tasks include installing, uninstalling and updating the Veeam Endpoint Backup software, configuring backup job and global settings, starting or stopping backup jobs.

Management commands to Veeam Endpoint Backup are passed with the help of scripts that come with Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech. LabTech agents execute the scripts on remote endpoints and communicate the execution result back to the plug-in.

For details on management tasks, see Managing Veeam Endpoint Backup.

Alerting

Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech includes a set of monitors to help you track the results of backup jobs, state of Veeam Endpoint Backup service and integration software. By default, the monitors are assigned to the Veeam Endpoint Backup computer group. LabTech agents on remote endpoints evaluate the monitor conditions, and send alert details to the the LabTech server if these conditions are true.

Monitoring and Reporting

Veeam Endpoint Backup for LabTech comes with a set of dashboards, dataviews and report templates for monitoring and reporting on the data protection status for managed endpoints. Veeam Endpoint Backup data for dashboards, dataviews and reports is obtained from endpoints as part of the data collection process.

For details, see Monitoring Endpoint Backups and Reporting.
