To manage large environments with more than 1000 Veeam backup agents, use the following sizing recommendations.
Veeam Availability Console
For Veeam Availability Console, use a server that meets the following requirements:
Managed Computers | < 1 000 | 1 000 - 2 000 | 2 000 - 5 000 | < 10 000 |
CPU | 4 vCPUs | 4 vCPUs | 6 vCPUs | 8 vCPUs |
Memory | 4 - 6 GB | 8 GB | 10 GB | 12 GB |
Microsoft SQL Server
Veeam Availability Console ships with the Microsoft SQL Server Express edition. The Express edition is recommended for POC, trial and small-scale environments. For production deployments, use Microsoft SQL Server Standard and higher.
Microsoft SQL Server that hosts the Veeam Availability Console database must meet the following requirements:
Managed Computers | < 1 000 | 1 000 - 2 000 | 2 000 - 5 000 | < 10 000 |
CPU | 4 vCPUs | 4 vCPUs | 6 vCPUs | 8 vCPUs |
Memory | 4 GB | 6 GB | 8 GB | 16 GB |
Database Size* | 35 MB per day/ 15 GB in a year | 65 MB per day/ 25 GB in a year | 160 MB per day/ 55 GB in a year | 330 MB per day/ 120 GB in a year |
Minimal Reservation for Temp DB | 1 GB | 2 GB | 7 GB | 20 GB |
* Under the condition that Veeam backup agents are scheduled to perform backup once a day, and Veeam backup agents job history data retention is set to 1 year. After 1 year, the database growth is minimal.
Bandwidth Requirements
Bandwidth on the service provider side must comply with the following requirements.
Managed Computers | < 1 000 | 1 000 - 2 000 | 2 000 - 5 000 | < 10 000 |
Management agent traffic per day* | 0.58 GB | 1.17 GB | 2.92 GB | 5.98 GB |
Minimum bandwidth | 1Mbit/sec | 2 Mbit/sec | 4 Mbit/sec | 9 Mbit/sec |
Peak bandwidth usage | 2 Mbit/sec | 3 Mbit/sec | 6 Mbit/sec | 14 Mbit/sec |
* Under the condition that Veeam backup agents are scheduled to perform backup once a day.
