Add-NimbleHost
Short Description
Adds HPE Nimble storage systems to Veeam Backup & Replication.
Applies to
Platform: VMware
Product Edition: Standard, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus
Syntax
This cmdlet provides the following parameter sets:
- To add storage systems by username and password
Add-NimbleHost -Name <string> -UserName <string> -Password <string> [-Description <string>] [-RESTAPIPort <int>][-Proxy <IProxy[]>] [-MountServer <CHost>] [-iSCSI] [-FibreChannel] [-SkipRescan] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>] |
- To add storage systems by credentials
Add-NimbleHost -Name <string> -Credentials <CInternalCredentials> [-Description <string>] [-RESTAPIPort <int>][-Proxy <IProxy[]>] [-MountServer <CHost>][-iSCSI] [-FibreChannel] [-SkipRescan] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>] |
Detailed Description
This cmdlet adds selected HPE Nimble storage systems to backup infrastructure.
When you add storage systems to your backup infrastructure, Veeam Backup & Replication performs a rescan of storage systems. During the rescan Veeam Backup & Replication retrieves information about the storage system topology and adds storage volumes to the backup infrastructure.
For more information about the rescan, see the Adding Storage Systems section of the User Guide for VMware vSphere.

Use the SkipRescan parameter to skip the automatic rescan. To rescan storage systems manually, use the following cmdlets:

Parameters
Parameter | Description | Required | Position | Accept | Accept |
Name | Specifies the storage IP address or DNS name. | True | Named | False | False |
UserName | Specifies the username that you want to use for authenticating with the storage. | True | Named | False | False |
Password | Specifies the password you want to use for authenticating with the storage. | True | Named | False | False |
Credentials | Specifies the credentials you want to use for authenticating with the storage. | True | Named | False | False |
Description | Specifies the description of the storage. | False | Named | False | False |
RESTAPIPort | For HPE Nimble OS 2.3 and later. Specifies the port for HPE Nimble RESTful API to communicate with storage. Default: 5392. | False | Named | False | False |
Proxy | Specifies the array of proxies you want to use to work with this storage. If set, Veeam Backup & Replication will use the selected proxies. If not set, Veeam Backup & Replication will use automatic proxy selection. | False | Named | False | False |
MountServer | Specifies the mount server that you want to use to work with this storage. | False | Named | False | False |
iSCSI | Indicates that Veeam Backup & Replication will connect to the HPE Nimble storage over the iSCSI protocol. | False | Named | False | False |
FibreChannel | Indicates that Veeam Backup & Replication will connect to the HPE Nimble storage over the FibreChannel protocol. | False | Named | False | False |
SkipRescan | Indicates that the cmdlet will not start the storage rescan automatically after you add storage systems to the backup infrastructure. | False | Named | False |
|
WhatIf | Specifies whether the cmdlet writes a message that describes the effects of running the cmdlet without actually performing any action. | False | Named | False | False |
Confirm | Defines that the cmdlet will display the prompt that asks:
| False | Named | False | False |
<CommonParameters>
This cmdlet supports Microsoft PowerShell common parameters. For more information about common parameters, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=113216.
Example
This example shows how to add an HPE Nimble storage system to the backup infrastructure using credentials.
- Run Get-VBRCredentials to get a credentials record for the storage system. Save the result to the $credentials variable.
- Run Get-VBRViProxy to get a backup proxy that will be used for storage rescan and Backup from Storage Snapshots. Save the result to the $proxy variable.
- Run Add-NimbleHost with the $credentials and $proxy variables.
$credentials = Get-VBRCredentials -Name "HPE Nimble Administrator" $proxy = Get-VBRViProxy -Name 172.17.53.5 Add-NimbleHost -Name 172.17.53.38 -Credentials $credentials -Description "HPE Nimble Storage iSCSI" -Proxy $proxy -iSCSI |
