Creating Backup Policies
To back up Azure VMs using the Veeam Backup & Replication console, you must create backup policies. A backup policy is a collection of settings that define the way backup operations are performed: what data to back up, where backups must be stored, when the backup process must start and so on.
To create backup policies, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the capabilities of Microsoft Azure Plug-in for Veeam Backup & Replication that allow you to access Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and add a backup policy directly to the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance.
To create a backup policy:
- Launch the Add Policy wizard using one of the following instructions:
- On the Home tab, navigate to Backup Job > Microsoft Azure.
- Open the Home view. In the inventory pane, right-click the Jobs node and select Backup > Microsoft Azure.
If you have several Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliances added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure, select the necessary appliance under the Microsoft Azure node.
- Follow the instructions provided in the Creating Backup Policies section in the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure User Guide.
