Veeam Availability Orchestrator 1.0
Categorization Guide

Tag-Based Categorization

The embedded Veeam ONE server collects tags assigned to VMs and tag categories available on the vCenter Server side.

If you have vCenter Server tags assigned to virtual infrastructure objects, you can use these tags to categorize objects in Veeam ONE Monitor. Each time data collection runs, tag categories are imported as Veeam ONE Business View categories, and tag values are assigned to groups within these categories.

Veeam ONE Monitor uses tags as the default method of categorization. As soon as you connect virtual infrastructure servers to VAO, vSphere tags are imported into Veeam ONE Monitor.

Selecting Tags to Import

By default, Veeam ONE Monitor imports all tags available on the vCenter Server side.

To select which tags to import:

  1. Open Veeam ONE Monitor Client.
  2. On the toolbar, click Options > Server Settings.
  3. Switch to the Business View tab.
  4. In the Import categorization model field, click Tags.
  5. In the Enable column, clear the check boxes next to tags that you want to exclude from import.

To exclude all tags in a category, clear the check box next to the name of the category.

  1. Click OK to save settings.

Disabling Tag Import

To use other categorization methods, you must disable tag import first.

Tag-Based Categorization Important!

As soon as you disable tag import, all previously configured categories and groups will be deleted from Veeam ONE Monitor.

To disable tag import:

  1. Open Veeam ONE Monitor client.
  2. On the toolbar, click Options -> Server Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Business View tab.
  4. In the Import categorization model field, select the Do not import option.
  5. In the Warning window, click OK to continue.
  6. Click OK to save settings.
