Step 4. Specify Storage Bucket
At the Bucket step of the wizard, specify a storage bucket where you want to store image-level backups of your VM or Cloud SQL instances. If you have not created the bucket beforehand, you can create a new bucket:
- To specify an existing bucket, in the Bucket menu enter a name of a storage bucket where backups of VM instances or Cloud SQL backups will reside.
To select a bucket that is available in your Google Cloud Region, click Browse and select the necessary bucket in the Select Bucket window. The Buckets window contains only those storage buckets that are added to the selected project.
If you select a dual-region storage bucket to keep backups of VM or Cloud SQL instances, you will be able to perform data recovery operations only from the NAM4, ASIA1 and EUR4 regions. All data recovery operations from other dual-regions except restore of VM instances and Cloud SQL backups to Google Compute Engine operations will not be available.
- To create a new bucket, click Browse. In the Select Bucket window, click New Bucket and enter a name for the bucket.
You can create a bucket only in the same project where Veeam Backup for Google Cloud has been deployed.
If you want to encrypt data stored in the standard backup repository, select the Enable backup file encryption check box. From the drop-down list, select the password that you want to use to encrypt data. With this option selected, Veeam Backup for Google Cloud automatically encrypts backup files stored in this repository.
If you have not added the password beforehand, click the Manage passwords link or the Add button to add a password. For more information, see the Creating Passwords section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
For more information on how to set up data encryption, see the Enabling Data Encryption section in the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud User Guide.
