Step 1. Launch Restore to Google Compute Engine Wizard
To restore data from image-level backups or cloud-native snapshots, launch the Restore to Google Compute Engine wizard. However, we recommend that you restore VM instances from cloud-native snapshots. In this case, Veeam Backup & Replication will be able to invoke native Google Cloud capabilities to make the restore process complete faster.
To launch the Restore to Google Compute Engine wizard, do one of the following:
- On the Home tab, click Restore and select GCP. In the Restore window, select Google Compute Engine. Depending on whether you want to restore from a backup or snapshot, select either Restore from GCE VM snapshot or Restore from Veeam backup.
- Open the Home view. In the inventory pane, navigate to Backups > External Repository if you want to restore from image-level backups, or to Backups > Snapshots if you want to restore from cloud-native snapshots. In the working area, expand the necessary backup policy, select VM instances that you want to restore and click Google CE on the ribbon. Alternatively, right-click one of the selected instances and select Restore to Google CE.
