Limitations and Considerations

Before you start the restore process, check the following prerequisites:

    • Stop all policies that are currently running.
    • Disable all policies that are enabled.
    • If you restore configuration database to a new Veeam Backup for Google Cloud appliance, the source Veeam Backup for Google Cloud appliance must not be added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
    • Google Cloud Plug-in for Veeam Backup & Replication overwrites custom config settings of the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud appliance during configuration restore. If you want to save custom config settings, you must save them before you start the configuration restore.
    • Veeam Backup & Replication allows you to restore the configuration to a new appliance if the original appliance is not present in the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure. However, we recommend you to stop the original appliance if it is present in the Google Cloud infrastructure. This is required because two different appliances must not be connected to the same backup repositories.
    • You cannot start configuration restore for appliances that are no longer added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
    • You cannot start configuration restore for outdated appliances.
    • Sessions of policies that were running during backup are not restored.
    • Check the version of the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud appliance. You cannot restore a configuration of the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud appliance version 2.0.
