Updating Appliances Using Console

Starting from version 6, you can upgrade backup appliances in the Veeam Backup & Replication console only. To perform upgrade of Veeam Backup for Google Cloud to version 6, the backup appliance must be running version 3.0 or later.

Important

Before you upgrade a backup appliance, check whether the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud version is compatible with the current version of Google Cloud Plug-in for Veeam Backup & Replication. For more information, see System Requirements.

Veeam Backup & Replication allows you to download and install new available Veeam Backup for Google Cloud versions and product updates:

In the Veeam Backup & Replication console, open the Backup Infrastructure view.
Navigate to Managed Servers.
Select the necessary backup appliance and click Upgrade appliance on the ribbon.

Alternatively, right-click the appliance and select Upgrade.

When you upgrade to Veeam Backup for Google Cloud version 6 from Veeam Backup for Google Cloud version 5.0 or earlier, the backup appliance operating system is upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and the configuration database is upgraded to PostgreSQL 16.
