Backed-Up Data Audit

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 REST API allows you to configure sending audit email notifications to track access to backed-up data of a specific user or group.

Consider the following:

• Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 sends audit email notifications for each operation performed with the backed-up data of a specific user or group. The user or group must be added to AuditItems. For more information on how to manage audit items, see Audit. For more information on how to configure audit email notification settings, see Audit Email Notification Settings.
• Teams cannot be added to AuditItems. To track access to objects of a backed-up team, add a group to which this team belongs to AuditItems.
• Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 allows you to track access to personal SharePoint sites of the audited users and SharePoint sites of the audited groups. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 does not send audit email notifications when other SharePoint sites are accessed.
• Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 sends audit email notifications only if backups of the audited user or group are accessed by another user using one of the following instruments:

• Veeam Explorers

For Exchange, SharePoint and OneDrive backups, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 sends audit email notifications while another user is browsing backed-up data.
