Considerations and Limitations

When you plan to deploy and configure Veeam Backup & Replication in the AWS environment, keep in mind the following limitations and considerations:

  • To ensure successful deployment and installation of Veeam Backup & Replication, customers are encouraged to make sure they are operating within AWS Quotas and Service Limits. For more information, refer to AWS Service Quotas.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication in AWS supports all commercial regions where this offer is available. It does not support AWS GovCloud and China regions.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication in AWS deployment is designed to get Veeam Backup & Replication launched quickly and easily. The Veeam Backup & Replication server is installed on a single EC2 instance and requires a single EBS volume. By default, this EBS volume does not have any backup. To easily recover from an EBS volume failure or single AZ failure, back up the Veeam Backup & Replication configuration to a backup repository in a different availability zone. For more information on setting up repositories, see Backup Repository in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. For more information on how to back up the Veeam Backup & Replication configuration, see Configuration Backup and Restore in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. Before creating a repository stored on an EBS volume, also review Amazon EBS Features in the AWS Documentation as well as Veeam 3-2-1-1-0 Guidelines on protecting data.
