Veeam Backup & Replication System Requirements
The following schema demonstrates Veeam Backup & Replication components that a single simple Veeam Backup & Replication installation comprises.
Make sure that virtual machine that you plan to use as a backup server meets the system requirements listed below.
Backup Server
Specification | Requirement |
---|---|
Virtual Hardware | EC2 instance type: m5.xlarge is recommended. Depending on the size of your backup infrastructure and usage scenarios, you may require other instance types. For more information, see System Requirements in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide and Amazon EC2 Instance Types in Amazon EC2 Documentation. Disk Space: 200 GB gp3 volume is recommended as an EC2 instance storage where Veeam Backup & Replication will be deployed. After initial deployment of Veeam Backup & Replication, your backups may require additional disk space. In this case, we recommend that you add an extra st1 volume to the EC2 instance were the backup server is installed and create an additional backup repository on it. Mind that the selected volume type and size affect the performance of the Veeam Backup & Replication system and costs of using it. |
SQL Database | PostgreSQL 15.x (PostgreSQL 15.5 is included in the Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1 setup, PostgreSQL 15.1 is included in the Veeam Backup & Replication 12 setup, but we strongly recommend to download and install the latest PostgreSQL 15.x version). |
Software | All the required software is included in the Veeam Backup & Replication setup. That includes:
