Using Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 in AWS Environment
There can be various scenarios of using Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 in the AWS environment. For the purposes of this guide, we will consider the following use case as a primary one:
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is deployed on an EC2 instance.

Sensitive customer data (credentials of user accounts required to connect to virtual servers and other systems, cloud credentials, and so on) is stored in the configuration database in the encrypted format. For more information, see Security Considerations. |
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 uses a backup repository extended with Amazon S3 object storage to store backups.
- For access to EC2 instances, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 uses AWS access keys. For more information, see the Adding Amazon AWS Access Key section of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 User Guide.

To back up Microsoft 365 data, you must correctly configure Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 after deployment. To do that:
- Add a Microsoft 365 organization to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.
- Add a backup repository to your backup infrastructure.
- Add Amazon S3 object storage to your backup infrastructure.
- Create a backup job.
