Assigning Permissions

Veeam Data Cloud Salesforce Extension controls access to its functionality with the help of permission sets. A permission set defines what operations users can perform in the Veeam Data Cloud Salesforce Extension UI.

There are 3 permission sets that you can assign to users working with the product:

  • VBSF Archive Viewer User — can view archived object records. Note that users assigned this permission set alone cannot restore object records.
  • VBSF Restore Archived Data — can restore archived object records. Note that users assigned this permission set alone cannot view object records.
  • VBSFPackageAPIAccess — can send API requests and use named credentials as callout endpoints. Note that users assigned this permission set alone can neither view nor restore object records.

Important

  • For a user to be able to view archived records of an object, they must not only be assigned the VBSF Archive Viewer User set but also have the permissions required to read the object data in Salesforce. For more information on the required permissions, see Salesforce documentation
  • For a user to be able to restore data of an object, they must not only be assigned the VBSF Restore Archived Data set but also have the permissions required to modify the object data in Salesforce. For more information on the required permissions, see Salesforce documentation.
  • Veeam Data Cloud Salesforce Extension does not support Salesforce sharing rules.

To assign a permission set to a user, do the following:

  1. Switch to the Getting Started tab.
  2. In the Select Objects and Provide Access section, click Assign Permission.
  3. Follow the instructions provided in this Salesforce KB article.
