The Veeam MP for VMware includes the vCenter Connection Failover feature which allows host and VM monitoring to continue, even if vCenter Server goes offline.

The VE Service is regularly polling the heartbeat of its connection to VMware vCenter. If connection to the vCenter is lost, an automated Recovery Action is triggered to disable the vCenter Server connection and create direct monitoring connections to all vSphere hosts. This feature eliminates vCenter Server as a SPoF (Single Point of Failure) for monitoring data.
