Short Description
Adds Dell EMC VNX storage systems to Veeam Backup & Replication.
Applies to
Platform: VMware
Product Edition: Standard, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus
Storage System: Dell EMC VNX
Syntax
This cmdlet provides 2 parameter sets.
- For authenticating with the storage using user name and password:
Add-VNXHost -Type <VBRVNXHostType> {VNXFile | VNXBlock | VNXe | Unity} -UserName <string> -Password <string> [-Name <string>] [-Description <string>] [-CredentialsScope <VBRVNXBlockCredentialsScope> {Global | Local | LDAP}] [-Proxy <IProxy[]>] [-iSCSI] [-NFS] [-FibreChannel] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>] |
- For authenticating with the storage using credentials:
Add-VNXHost -Type <VBRVNXHostType> {VNXFile | VNXBlock | VNXe | Unity} -Credentials <CCredentials> [-Name <string>] [-Description <string>] [-CredentialsScope <VBRVNXBlockCredentialsScope> {Global | Local | LDAP}] [-Proxy <IProxy[]>] [-iSCSI] [-NFS] [-FibreChannel] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>] |
Detailed Description
This cmdlet adds a selected Dell EMC VNX storage to Veeam Backup & Replication.
When adding a storage, you will need to provide either username/password or credentials. Use an appropriate parameter set for each case.
When you add a storage to your management console, Veeam Backup & Replication automatically rescans the storage infrastructure. To rescan the storage infrastructure manually, run Sync-VNXHost or Sync-VNXVolume.

Example
This example shows how to add the Dell EMC VNX storage to the backup infrastructure using credentials.
You will need to perform the following steps:
- Run Get-VBRCredentials to get a credentials record for the storage. Save the result to the $credentials variable.
- Run Get-VBRViProxy to get a backup proxy that will be used for storage rescan and Backup from Storage Snapshots. Save the result to the $proxy variable.
- Run Add-VNXHost with the $credentials and $proxy variables.
PS C:\PS> $credentials = Get-VBRCredentials -Name "VNX Administrator" PS C:\PS> $proxy = Get-VBRViProxy -Name 172.16.53.5 PS C:\PS> Add-VNXHost -Name 172.16.21.105 -Type VNXe -Credentials $credentials -Proxy $proxy -iSCSI |
