Adding S3 Repositories

From the Veeam Backup & Replication console, you can deploy new S3 repositories. These repositories will be automatically added to the Veeam Backup for AWS and Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructures.

If you have already deployed an S3 repository and want to add this repository to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure, you must use one of the following instructions:

  • If an S3 repository is already added to the Veeam Backup for AWS infrastructure, and you want to add this repository to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure, follow the instructions provided in the Editing Veeam Backup for AWS Appliance Settings section. At the Repositories step of the Edit Veeam Backup for AWS Appliance wizard, specify credentials to be used to access the repository and click Apply. The repository will be added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure automatically.
  • If you want to add an S3 repository to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure, but you do not want or cannot add the Veeam Backup for AWS appliance where this repository is deployed, for example, your product license is not supported, follow the instructions provided in the Adding External Amazon S3 Storage section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. Note that in this case, restore from backups stored in this repository will work as described in the How Restore to Amazon EC2 Works section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.

To add a new S3 repository, do the following:

  1. Launch the Add External Repository wizard
  2. Specify a Veeam Backup for AWS appliance
  3. Specify Amazon account settings
  4. Specify an Amazon bucket
  5. Wait for the repository to be added to the infrastructure
  6. Finish working with the wizard
