Removing Appliances
If you do not plan to use Veeam Backup for AWS appliances anymore, you can remove them from the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
To remove an appliance from the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure:
- Open the Backup Infrastructure view.
- In the inventory pane, select Managed Servers.
- In the working area, select the appliance that you want to remove, and click Remove Appliance on the ribbon. Alternatively, right-click the appliance and select Remove.
- In the opened window, do the following:
- If you want to remove all the external repositories connected to the appliance, leave the Remove object storage repositories associated with the selected backup appliance check box selected. Otherwise, clear the check box.
- To view external repositories connected to the appliance, click the Show details link.
- Click Yes.
After you remove the Veeam Backup for AWS appliance, the following changes will take place:
- You will have to rescan repositories every time you want to collect data on newly created restore points, update data on restore points that were removed manually or by retention.
- You will not be able to create and manage backup policies.
- You will not be able to restore Amazon EC2 instances from snapshots.
- Restore to Amazon EC2 from image-level backups will work as described in the How Restore to Amazon EC2 Works section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. Restore may become slower.
- Data transfer costs may increase because Veeam Backup & Replication will not be able to use native AWS capabilities and will have to download more data.
