Licensing

Veeam Plug-in functionality is available only for the Enterprise Plus Edition of Veeam Backup & Replication. The license is installed on the Veeam Backup & Replication side. Note that if there are no available license instances or sockets, Veeam Plug-in backup will fail.

Servers where Veeam Plug-in is installed consume licenses according to the type of licensed objects:

For per-socket license:

A license is required for each CPU socket on the hypervisor host where the VM with Veeam Plug-in resides. The license must be already bound to the hypervisor, otherwise, the plug-ins will consume instance licenses. You can bind the license by performing Veeam Backup & Replication backup of a VM from the hypervisor.

For per-instance license:

A license is required for each server where Veeam Plug-in is installed.

Licensing Important!

All SAP HANA Scale-Out Cluster nodes need to be licensed. The license will be consumed for all cluster nodes, if Veeam Plug-in is installed on one of the nodes.
