Upgrading License

After you upgrade Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows to version 4.0 or later, you must obtain and install a per-instance license. To ensure a smooth license update procedure, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows offers a 90-day grace period after the product is upgraded. During this period, the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows can continue performing backup sessions with an old license. If you do not install a new license after this period expires, the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows will not be able to process backup jobs.

The installed license must have a total number of instances that is sufficient to protect machines (servers and workstations) on which you plan to install Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. The number of backup jobs configured in Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows does not consume the license. To learn more about per-instance licensing, see the Viewing License Information section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
