Migrating Nutanix AHV Backup Proxy

You can migrate a AHV Backup Proxy to a new backup infrastructure if you want to keep the specified proxy settings and configured jobs:

  1. Install Nutanix AHV Plug-In on a new backup server as described in Installing Nutanix AHV Plug-In.
  2. Add the Nutanix AHV cluster where the AHV Backup Proxy resides to the new backup infrastructure as described in Adding Nutanix AHV Cluster.
  3. Remove the AHV Backup Proxy from the old backup infrastructure as described in Removing Nutanix AHV Backup Proxies.

If you do not remove the AHV Backup Proxy, it will not function properly since the old backup server will try to manage the proxy.

Important

While removing the proxy, do not select the Permanently delete the proxy VM from the cluster and all of its backup jobs (irreversible) check box. Otherwise, the AHV Backup Proxy VM will be removed from the cluster.

  1. Connect the AHV Backup Proxy to the new backup server as described in Adding AHV Proxy.
  2. Specify new backup repositories in the jobs configured on the proxy as described in Editing Job Settings.
  3. Rescan the AHV Backup Proxy to synchronize data with the backup server as described in Rescanning Nutanix AHV Backup Proxies.
  4. Import Nutanix AHV backups from new backup repositories as described in Importing Backups from Backup Repository.
