Scenario 2: One Production Site, One DR Site

You can use the scenario if you have one Production site which consolidates all your workloads, and you use a Veeam Backup & Replication server installed in a remote DR site to protect these workloads. This scenario implies that you can also delegate permissions on failover procedures to other users.

This scenario is a proof of concept of the Advanced Deployment Mode.

In this deployment scenario, VAO sites have the following infrastructure components deployed:

  • DR VAO server — provides failover plan management, testing and execution.
  • Production VAO server — collects data on the VM inventory and sends this data to the VAO server in the DR site.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication server — handles replication jobs and is used for failover orchestration.

The diagram below illustrates the deployment scenario with two VAO sites: one DR site, and one Production site.

Veeam Availability Orchestrator Architecture

The vCenter Server can be shared across both sites, or you can have a dedicated vCenter Server for each site. Regardless of the source site/vCenter Server for VM inventory, plans are always designed, tested and executed in the VAO UI in the DR site.

I want to report a typo

There is a misspelling right here:

I want to let the Veeam Documentation Team know about that.
